National Cherry Blossom Festival
Bringing Tradition to the People
Like so many other high-profile events in 2020, the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. faced a huge challenge bringing the unique beauty and long history of an American institution safely to a quarantined public. Even more daunting, they had next to zero time to get it done. Then they called VIVA Creative.
Digital Blossoms
It was time to get creative, and fast. The VIVA team planned and executed a video shoot featuring the spokesperson for the National Park Service, Mike Litterst in his element. As Mr. Litterst strolled the Tidal Basin with the blossoms in full bloom, he shared the story of the 3,000 cherry trees that came from Japan as a gift in 1914. Viewers learned about the history of the United States’ friendship with the people of Japan and why the Festival attracts millions of visitors each year.
In the end, the VIVA team coordinated a complete on-site video shoot and edited the footage in 24 hours, ensuring that this beautiful American event could continue to be shared in Washington, D.C. and around the world.
